Kiriko Takemura – Before she became known as Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

For a lot of pop stars in Japan, fans and the curious ones often wonder how a pop star was before they became very popular.  Were they the same type of people?

Recently, videos of Takemura Kiriko who would be known to the world as Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, were posted on YouTube.  Here are a few of videos of pre-KPP when she was 16-years-old, showing that she was still fun back then as she is now!

Meanwhile, SKE48 performed on Music Station last night. Here is their performance of “Sansei Kawaii”:

Actress Ueto Aya has promoted a lot of video games in the last decade but the latest commercials she is featured in are Nintendo’s Wii U “Super Mario 3D World” commercials.  And yes, Aya loves video games and is getting into it as you can see in the commercials:

But Aya Ueto is among the few actresses you will see quite often on television in Japan. Here are a few of her commercials:

It’s not Christmas in Japan until Colonel Sanders becomes Santa

Ahh…there are two things that make me feel that Christmas is quickly approaching.  7-11 AKB48 Christmas commercials and early KFC Christmas commercials.

Yes, KFC is known for jumpstarting Christmas early with their Christmas commercials but Colonel Sanders must also don the Santa outfit as well!

If only KFC in the U.S.A. can have this much initiative of getting into the Christmas spirit!

It’s BiKing 2013!!!

Once a year, the unhealthy or hungry have waited for Burger King Japan’s “BiKing” in which one can partake in all-you-can-eat Whoppers.

One must purchase a Whopper, Fries (or onion rings) and a large drink and ensure that you have eaten your food completely and not be a cheapskate and hide it in your manbag, backpack or purse.

So, eat to your heart’s content (err..from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. from Nov. 15 – Dec. 1st)!

The trailer for the upcoming Doraemon 3D film “STAND BY ME Doraemon” (STAND BY ME ドラえもん) was released and to see the characters in 3D is pretty awesome (for those who have followed “Doraemon” for this long!).  For more information on the film, you can check out the official website here.

Watarirouka Hashiritai (渡り廊下走り隊) to call it quits, final release on Christmas Day

Watarirouka Hashiritai (渡り廊下走り隊), the AKB48 sub-unit which began back in Oct. 2008 are calling it quits and will release on more Watarirouka Hashiraitai “Best Album” on Christmas Day.

Taken from J!-ENT:

Back in 2008, AKB48 founder/producer Yasushi Akimoto wanted to revive the subgroup “Ushirogami Hikaretai” (a popular subgroup of Onyanko Club featuring Akiko Ikuina, Makiko Saito and Shizuka Kudo) but this time for AKB48 under the name “Watariroka Hashiritai” which would consist of five members Mayu Watanabe, Natsumi Hirajima, Haruka Nakagawa, Aika Oota and Ayaka Kikuchi.

With a total of six CD singles released, Akimoto has added two more members to the group, Misaki Iwasa and Misa Komori.  And together, will now be known as “Watariroka Hashiritai 7″.

Which is no surprise to fans as Nacchan quit AKB48, Harugon has went on to JKT48, Mayuyu is doing well in AKB48 and as a solo artist, Rabutan is in HKT48, Wasamin has a solo enka career in addition to AKB48 and Sumire Sato is still with AKB48.

I don’t think that AKB48 fans are too surprised but I’m sure that there is a bit of sadness that the group are breaking up.  But everyone has went on their own separate path individually and the group will go out with a bang with a Best Album featuring 5 discs (3 CD’s with a total of 46 songs and 2 DVD’s with music videos and live concert footage).

I will forever relish the moments of blasting Watarirouka Hashiritai’s “AkKanbe Bashi” (アッカンベー橋) on my car stereo, while onlookers wondered…WTF is he playing!
