Ohtaki Eiichi has passed away


Music artist Ohtaki Eiichi, best known for his successful solo album “A LONG VACATION” (1981) and the vocalist/guitarist of the band Happy End has passed away.

According to an announcement by Sony Music Records, Ohtaki passed away on December 30th and collapsed at his home at 19:00.  Cause of death was an aneurism.

Ohtaki was 65 years old.  Funeral has yet to be determined.

PUFFY’s Yumi to divorce for the second time


PUFFY’s Yoshimura Yumi has announced on their fan club website that she is divorcing for a second time.

Yoshimura was married to Nishikawa Takanori (T.M. Revolution) for her first marriage and married again in 2009.  She gave birth to a baby boy in August 2012.

Yoshimura posted the following message which informs everyone she is divorcing but apologizing for the result after so many fans gave her blessing for her marriage.  But she wants to focus on her son and also work and be happy.








AKB48 Kouhaku Shocker! Oshima Yuko to graduate!


In a Kouhaku Uta Gassen shocker! After AKB48’s performance of “Koisuru Fortune Cookie”, Oshima Yuko took the microphone to announce that she is graduating from AKB48, before performing “Heavy Rotation”.

EXILE wins GRAND PRIX at the 55th Nihon Record Taishou Awards


Congratulations to EXILE for winning the GRAND PRIX, the top music award prize offered at the 55th annual Nihon Record Taishou Awards (equivalent to USA’s Grammy Awards).

Best newcomer award goes to 18-year-old Kota Shinzato wins best new artist of the year! The youngest male artist since 1981 when Kondo Masahiko won at the age of 17.

110 AKB members to wear an outfit showcasing 110 countries at Kouhaku Uta Gassen


110 members of AKB48 to each wear a uniform of 110 countries and will have a performance alongside enka singer Itsuki Hiroshi. While NMB48 will also be the backup dancers to enka singer Hosokawa Takashi.

“Puzzle & Dragons Z” (パズドラZ) is the #1 game for the second straight week in Japan


The #1 game in Japan for the week goes to “Puzzle & Dragons Z” for the 3DS from Gung Ho Online Entertainment which sold 131,219 copies for the week of 12/16-12/22.

“Pokemon X/Y” for the 3DS continues to have strong sales after two months of release, selling 159,244 copies and “Shin Gundam Musou” for the PS3 was #3 with 57,862 copies sold.


“Fairy Tail” vol. 41 by Mashima Hiro is the best selling manga in Japan for the week (December 30, 2013)


Mashima Hiro’s “Fairy Tail” vol. 41 was the best selling manga of the week selling 283,437 copies.  Coming in second place is “Nanatsu no Taizai” (The Seven Deadly Sins) vol. 6 by Suzuki Nakaba which sold 152,727 copies. At #3 is Terajima Yuji’s “Daia no A” (Ace of Diamond) vol. 39 which sold 146,383 copies.
