Terra Formars (テラフォーマーズ) Vol. 7 by Sagusa Yu and Tachibana Kenichi is the best selling manga in Japan for the week of November 18-24, 2013


The Young Jump Comics manga series “Terra Formars” (テラフォーマーズ) vol. 7 is the #1 selling manga for the week with 312,009 copies sold.

The series written by Sagusa Yu and illustrations by Tachibana Kenichi revolves around the space program to travel to Mars.  Scientists from Earth send cockroaches along with mold to the surface of Mars in order to absorb the sunlight and insect corpses would be the food source for the mold.

Fast forward hundreds of years later and the first manned mission to Mars takes place and to find out the cockroaches did not die but mutated to giant humanoid cockroaches with super strength.  The manned team were able to send a message to Earth before getting slaughtered and now a group of elite warriors from Earth are sent to kill the mutated cockroaches.

In second place is the 81st volume of “Meitantei Conan” which sold 281,432 copies and in third place “Kishibe Rohan wa ugokanai” which sold over 278,000 copies.
