Messages from Perfume and the Director Taketoshi Sado

I am so happy for our Japan and U.S. simultaneous premiere! It’s amazing!!! While I wonder how our live documentary turned out, I am a little bit embarrassed, because our documentary crew recorded us very closely during our tour. I’m very glad that not only Perfume fans in Japan but also overseas can see the true Perfume in this movie. I wonder if we could walk on the real red carpet this time, because when we walked for the Cars 2 world premiere, it was a black carpet to give the image of a racetrack. For our long cherished red carpet, I want to walk carefully. Wow! I am so nervous! (laughs)

Even though I was very happy for our tour becoming a movie, I still can’t believe it will be showing in Japan and the US simultaneously. I hope that lots of people will see our movie. I never even dreamed of the day when I can walk on the red carpet of the Tokyo International Film Festival. I am very pleased for the three of us to walk with pride of having been involved in this movie. Even for a short moment, I would like to enjoy the glamorous experience of the International Film Festival!

OMG! I can’t believe it! In any case, please come to see the movie! I can’t wait~ ^ ^

Taketoshi Sado, Director:
To have my first directed movie to be invited to the Tokyo International Film Festival and be shown worldwide is a supreme honor. I think if you feel touched by the real Perfume in this movie, you will become Perfume fan for sure. So to see the real face, I would like everyone around the world to watch this movie.

This documentary follows Perfume on a two-month international live tour, “Perfume WORLD TOUR 3rd.” While travelling around the globe to cities across Asia, Europe, and the United States, audiences will see Perfume’s powerful live performances and catch never before seen behind-the-scenes footage. Witness the group’s single-minded approach to their performances – the joy, anguish, and struggles, not only in the music, but also in fashion and pop culture. By witnessing the girls’ ongoing current activities fans will glimpse Perfume’s achievements and their goals for the future. This is Perfume’s nonstop evolution. Their “now” is here.

During several insightful interviews, the members “Dame Dashi” will be revealed in which they reflect on improving for upcoming shows. The source of their passion for performing live will also be revealed. In between their tight schedules the members are depicted enjoying some leisure time – from their excitement in Singapore’s giant Merlion, to exploring New York’s Times Square, fans will witness their life-sized reactions. In addition, each member also talks about the world tour, the group’s formation, and a look back on their successful career to-date. These exclusive interviews can only be seen in the movie.

Kawashima Naomi has passed away

Kawashima Naomi entertained audiences as a singer back in the late ’70s and early ’80s.

Naomi continued to entertain audiences but on television as an actress starring on dramas such as “Wakamono no Subete” (1994), “Shitsurakuen” (1997), “Kurenai” (1998), “At Home Dad” (2004) to name a few.

But her husband, famous pastry chef Yoroizuka Toshihiko, announced on Facebook that Naomi had passed away on Thursday evening and that she performed on stage until a week ago.

Naomi succumbed to bile duct cancer, which she made public back in 2014 after undergoing surgery a few months earlier.

AKB48 Team K’s Fujita Nana wins the 6th Annual Janken Taikai 2015

The 6th annual AKB48 Janken Taikai was held at the Saitama Arena on the 16th.

As with previous Janken Taikai yearly competitions, the winner will become the center for the AKB48 single released at the end of the year and the top 16 qualifiers will be featured for the single and music video.

And in the final two, AKB48 Team K’s Fujita Nana took on former HKT48, currently AKB48 Team A member Nakanishi Shiori.  And after many rounds of throwing rock, Fujita Nana threw paper and won the competition.

Similar to Uchida Mayumi (the first winner of the AKB48 Janken Taikai) who has never ranked in Senbatsu, Fujita Nana has never ranked in senbatsu.  She also has never participated in an A-single before.  So, this is a special opportunity for Fujita Nana.

The night also featured quite a few surprises, especially with Takamina dressed as T.M. Revolution and TMR showing up on stage to support her.  This will be Takamina’s final Janken Taikai, as she is set to graduate in December.

You can watch the final four compete below:

Former SKE48 members Kuwabara Mizuki, Ogiso Shiori and Yagami Kumi reunite

When SKE48 members Kuwabara Mizuki, Ogiso Shiori and Yagami Kumi graduated from SKE48, many fans were saddened by their departure.  Especially when they were among the three popular members outside of the two Matsui’s (Jurina and Rena).

But the three reunited recently for a special essay book which will be released in early December as well as a mobile fan site.

NPB: Hanshin Tigers 1985 Memorial Card Set (Japanese Baseball Card Review)

The Hanshin Tigers are a team known to come so close in various seasons but have been unable to finish strong.

While the team have won five Central League pennants (1962, 1964, 1985, 2003, 2005), they have won only one Japan Series.

While there are Japanese who blame the Curse of Kentucky Fried Chicken’s Colonel Sanders, the truth is that the Hanshin Tigers have had very awesome teams (as they have a strong team right now in 2015 in the very tight race in the Central League), they will be remembered for their 1985 team.

In the 1985 Japan Series, the Central League champion Hanshin Tigers went against the Pacific League champions, the Seibu Lions and beat the Seibu Lions 4-2.

From star players such as Randy Bass, Munehiko Shimada, Akinobu Mayumi, Masayuki Kakefu, Keiichi Nagasaki, to name a few, 1985 was the year of the Hanshin Tigers.

And to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the team, Epoch has released a Hanshin Tigers 1985 Memorial Card Set for Y9800.

Featuring a total of 45 cards (43 regular + 2 checklist) + random signed card, each box is numbered, while each card features  a Nippon Champions 1985 logo on the bottom right corner, Hanshin tigers logo on the upper right and photo, jersey # and name of the player and their position.  Reverse features information about the player.

The cards have that shiny sheen on both sides and for the most part, are very cool!

For the hardcore collectors, there are 153 cards total, if you intend to get all the signed cards (good luck on that!), with the VC-YOY and VN-YOY signed celebration cards (only ten made and only one signed).  So, those two cards alone are rare!

For me, I purchased this set for nostalgia but also, I wanted a baseball card set of the only Hanshin Tigers team to win the Japan Series.  So, I wanted to have this set in my NPB card collection!

So, while Hanshin Tigers have hopes of winning the Japan Series in 2015…If you are feeling nostalgic of that 1985 win, then definitely enjoy this video from 1985:

The Mobile Suit Gundam 35th Anniversary Cake

Possibly one of the coolest things to come out this year in celebration of the 35th Anniversary of “Mobile Suit Gundam” is the “Gundam Opera Cake” in commemoration of the first model releases.

To be sold ala Premium Bandai for Y3,980 (including tax + shipping and handling), the cake has a look of a 1/144 scale Gundam.

The bottom layers feature chocolate sponge cake with coffee cream on the top.  Almonds are between the layers of sponge cake along with coffee syrup.

And the spoon and fork, offered for a limited time, is something that Gundam fans will enjoy!
