Amami Yuki to be a guest voice actress for “Meitantei Konan: Junkoku no Naitomea” (Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare)

Actress Amami Yuki was announced as one of the guest voice talents for the 20th “Detective Conan” film, “Meitantei Konan: Junkoku no Naitomea” (Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare).

Amami was a member of Takarazuka Revue (1987-1995) and is an award winning actress for her drama roles in “Last Present”, “Jo no Kyoshitsu” and her roles in the film “Inugami” and “Rendan”.

Amamiya Yuki will play the role of a woman with heterochromia iris who suffers from memory loss and is found by Conan Edogawa and friends.  But while assisting the woman, they are being followed and observed by Vermouth.

Is Toei Animation changing “Dragon Ball” storyline in “Dragon Ball Super”?

Fans in Japan today are not so happy that Toei Animation changed Goku’s time in the spirit room (or Hyperbolic Time Chamber) from two years to three years in a recent episode of “Dragon Ball Super”.

Fans of the series have been critical of “Dragon Ball Super” from its animation to storyline changes since it premiered on television.

RIP Shigeru Mizuki Shigeru (creator of “GeGeGe No Kitaro”)

On January 31st, 7,000 people came to say goodbye to “GeGeGe no Kitaro” creator, Shigeru Mizuki.

While I never had the opportunity to meet Mizuki-san, I did make the effort to visit the “GeGeGe no Kitaro” attraction at Fuji-Q.

2015 Anime Viewership study

Anime! Anime! recently released their 2015 study of anime viewers and where most people tend to watch their anime.

The majority of people tend to watch their anime via free delivery service as expected but it also shows how the percentage of those who prefer to watch via a paid service.

Also, a comparison of those who watch their anime via Blu-ray/DVD rental.

Nico Nico Douga was the most popular online site to view anime, followed by YouTube and third was GyaO.

More teens viewed anime watching on YouTube (Nico Nico Douga – 33.8% versus 36.2% on YouTube), while those in their 20’s preferred to watch on Nico Nico Douga (59.5% on Nico Nico Douga vs. 13.5% on YouTube).

As for paid service, D Anime Store and Bandai Channel did very well but there is an age difference as most Bandai Channel viewers were older and D Anime Store were younger.  Also, the subscription price for both services come into play as D Anime Store has a monthly fee of 420 yen, while Bandai Channel charges 1080 yen.

Meanwhile, Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hulu are starting to make their presence known as Amazon Prime charges 3900 yen per year.

As for viewing on a video game console, majority of the people watch on their PS3/PS4 (27.3%), Wii/Wii U (16.3%) and XBox 360/One (1.5%).

CHARAPEDIA‘s “Most Charming Anime Character” for 2015 goes to Doma Umaru of “Himouto! Umaru-chan”.

Doma Umaru is a high school girl who excels in school and is popular, but at home, she is a totally different person.

Her secret lifestyle features her wearing an animal hoodie, she is actually quite lazy and eats a lot of junk food.

In addition, she is a hardcore video gamer, manga reader and anime fan (her “indoor mode” she is drawn in Chibi format).

In second place, Kujo Jotaro of “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Stardust CRUSADERS” comes in second.

In third place, Matsuno Jushimatsu of “Osomatsu-kun” came in third.

“Macross Delta” to air on October 29th

The latest “Macross” series will be airing on Thursday, October 29th.  Titled “Macross Delta”, Kawamori Shoji will be the chief director of the anime series.
