Kawaei Rina to switch agencies from AKS to Avex Vanguard

With AKB48 member Kawaei Rina (20) set to graduate on August 4th, she actress announced that she has also transferred agencies.

With many AKB48 members belonging to AKS, Kawaei Rina will now be with Avex Vanguard which actresses Sawajira Erika and Saeko belong too.

Kawaei will pursue her long life dream of becoming an actress.

Kawaei Rina calls live on the air on Fuji TV’s “Viking”

Kawaei appeared via phone on Fuji TV’s “Viking”. Kawaei called in and in laughter, said “Hai, Konnichiwa”. Kawaei told her co-stars that she is fine and that she has been sleeping a lot. Kawaei told her co-stars that she was eating an Acai bowl and watching too much TV. Also, Kawaei denied all rumors that she was graduating from AKB48 and that she was surprised by reports that she may be graduating. She also said that she wants to apologize to everyone for making them worry and she wants to concentrate on her health and getting better.

Iriyama and Kawaei released from the hospital

AKB48 members Iriyama Anna (18) and Kawaei Rina (19) were released from the hospital, a day after they were attacked by a crazed unemployed man named Satoru Umeta who admitted to police that he was not a fan and wanted to randomly murder someone. Umeta has been charged for attempted murder.

Kawaei briefly talked with reporters to say, “We’ve caused you worry, but we are returning to Tokyo now”.

On May 25th at the handshake meeting in Iwate (at Iwate Inudstrial Culture Center), Kawae Rina, Iriyama Anna and a venue staff member were injured by an attack by a man holding a hand saw.

The injuries were not life threatening but the event has been canceled.  More information coming soon.

UPDATE: Kawaei suffered a fractured thumb and cut on her right hand.  Iriyama suffered a fracture on  her right pinky and a cut on her right arm and a head laceration.  A staff member was cut in his right arm.

The 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged for attempted murder.  The man is from Towada and is unemployed according to NTV.

This was the first time a Japanese performer was attacked during a handshake meeting.

Other incidents including attacks on performers have happened in the past.

In 1957, a crazed fan of Hibari Misora threw hydrochloric acid on the singer at Asakusa International Theater.

In 1963, a crazed fan of Yoshinaga Sayuri broke into the home of the actress carrying a pistol.  The man said he wanted to tattoo his name on the Sayuri’s arm or leg.  The man shot a police officer that was pursuing him.  At the time, Sayuri and her family were away from home.

In 1983, a mentally ill man attacked Matsuda Seiko with a metal pipe during a performance in front of 6,000 people Osaka.  Matsuda fainted during the attack and was taken to the hospital immediately for her head injury.

In 2002, Johnny’s Jr. member Yamashita Tomohisa was attacked by a man who poured liquid on him and the man ingested a liquid.

In 2013, Ninety-Nine member Okamura Takashi was pelted and inured by a bottle thrown at his forehead during an appearance in Kobe.

AKB48 members to star in “Sailor Zombie” on TV Tokyo – April 18, 2014

Beginning on April 18th, AKB48 members will be starring the TV Tokyo drama series “Sailor Zombie”. While a video game is currently available in arcades in Japan, a preview of the drama series was recently promoted on YouTube:

The drama series will star AKB48 members Owada Nana, Kawaei Rina, Takahashi Juri and Mukaichi Mion.

AKB48 Team A’s Kawaei Rina to star in NTV drama “SHARK”

AKB48 Team A member Kawaei Rina will be appearing on the NTV drama “SHARK” on January 11th. Kawaei told the media that it’s her dream to become an actress and she is inspired by Oshima Yuko with how she balanced herself on AKB48 and as an actress. Kawaei said she was very nervous because there are no other AKB48 members in this drama but she is having fun working on the drama. Kawaei expressed that she wants to do more acting in 2014.
